Notes
The pale coral color of Fleur de Mer in one’s glass is a surprising contrast from the darker color it appears in the lovely bottle. The nose is fresh with lychee with faint notes of strawberries that carry forward on the palate where they dominate. The bouquet is not persistent, the finish does not linger, and one might say there is a certain one-dimensionality to the wine. However, its simplicity has a definite appeal to those looking for a rosé to enjoy by the pool and its lightness makes it a wine destined to please a crowd. Fleur de Mer is equally capable as an aperitif wine or with a meal. This is a solid “everyday” Provence style rosé and a very good value when on sale.
