Notes
California rosé generally lacks the acidity that underlies the refreshing zing of rosé at its best. Not so with this Kale rosé. Some of the Grenache reaps the benefit of whole-cluster direct press, followed by concrete egg fermentation and later blended with saignée-produced Grenache and Mourvèdre juice that spends some time in oak. This bright coral-colored Sonoma County wine exudes grapefruit and orange aromas that segue to a very pleasant minerality and creaminess in the mouth followed by faint notes of fruit–more grapefruit and orange as well as watermelon–on the palate. It is beautifully balanced with surprisingly low alcohol. This is a sensual rosé that is lovely alone and delicious with food (in our case, a Niçoise salad).
