IS ROSÉ A SERIOUS WINE?
SOME THOUGHTS ON THE SUBJECT

“Rosé does not merit serious tasting”
…Such were the recent words of a fellow wine writer, one very knowledgeable about wine, and one whose opinion I respect immensely on general wine-related matters. He did not offer any caveats; his was a broad proclamation that rosé, as a category, is not serious, nor worthy of my attention.
Could it be, I wondered, that I’ve failed to see the very premise of my own avocation is false? Is a good rosé beneath its red and white brethren, unworthy of the same discerning critique? I knew the answer – mais non, évidemment – but, it’s been a number of years since I’ve been compelled to defend the position. (It’s not as if I’m writing about White Zinfandel, right?)
Growth in rosé consumption has been mind-boggling. The latest figures from Nielsen Research and French Customs indicate that sales in Provence rosés alone increased 55% by volume and 60% by absolute value during the twelve months ending July 2016, as compared to 34% on volume and 40% on value for the same period a year earlier. In France, one of every three bottles of wine consumed is a rosé.
With 2017 anticipated to be such a monumental year for rosé, another milestone on its transformation from poolside to white-linen-covered gastronomic tables, perhaps it’s time we revisit the debate. I will focus on rosé from Provence — the wine region renowned for their pale, dry rosés — with an article to follow about rosé from Rhône’s highly regarded Tavel appellation, known as “France’s 1st Rosé”.
I decided I would chat with a few informed sources – some in the wine business, others just in the habit of drinking fine wine – to collect their thoughts on the subject of rosé as a “serious” wine. Here is a selection of responses…so you’ll be prepared should someone take a swipe at the rosé in your glass this summer.
Provence rosé is known for its pale color, marked expression of fruit, and delicate balance of acidity and sugar, lending the impression of sweetness without intense sucrose. “Provence is the benchmark for rosé and, with more and more competition, the producers continually work to improve their wines to retain their leadership role and reputation,” said Gilles Masson, Director of The Center for Research and Experimentation on Rosé Wine in Vidauban, Provence.
I’ll be the first to say there are plenty of perfectly horrid rosés out there, populating the shelves of grocery stores and filling the carafes of rosé served in French cafés (which is why a couple of ice-cubes are usually found in your glass!). As with any wine, not all rosés are serious, nor are they intended as such. The long-standing low expectations for rosé – among many of its fans who are essentially looking for a thirst-quenching drink laced with alcohol – coupled with the huge influx of tourists who suspend all judgment while on vacation have kept, until recently, the spotlight trained on the cheaper end of the quality continuum even while other winemakers are producing quality rosés.
As Stephen Cronk, co-owner of Mirabeau en Provence with wife Jeany Cronk, puts it, “The reality is that there is a country mile between the watery, bland, and often over-acidic rosés from lazy or cynical producers and the sublime, more-ish nectar that is coming from the better rosé producers around the world,” adding that nowhere is this more apparent than in Provence.
So, why overgeneralize about all rosés? While the category of rosé has evolved to include many serious rosés, its marketing has not. “Basically, rosé made its name and reputation on being a quaffing wine,” Master of Wine Elizabeth Gabay wrote to me in a series of email exchanges. “Think about the marketing of rosé – on a beach, by a pool, on a yacht, [as a] lifestyle [and] compare that to other quality wine regions where critics talk about exciting winemakers, winemaking techniques, etc.,” Gabay wrote to me. The focus, she explained, has always been on how pretty rosé is—almost as if “pink” is the only reason to buy it. While this marketing strategy (arguably) helped to transform rosé into a commercial juggernaut, a tour de force of profit in a previously, rather undistinguished wine region of France, it also came with the unintended consequence of undermining the perceived depth (seriousness) of the category. In many ways, serious rosé is a victim of its own success.
Most experts agree the quality of Provence rosé has actually increased over the past two decades. “The winemakers are serious about making quality wines and the results are a very diverse palate of quality rosés – some are simple ones for everyday enjoyment and others are made to be enjoyed with gastronomic meals,” Masson said. The Director went on to say that The Center for Research and Experimentation on Rosé Wine, founded in 1995, by “a few special winemakers who believed in the potential of Provence rosé when others didn’t,” has proved an unwavering ally to those rosé producers (around the world) who are committed to quality, consistency, and productivity — that is, winemakers who make serious wine. “If the quality were not there, this would have been a three to five year blip, a fad,” Masson said.
So, for those rosés that are serious, in the minds of many of the experts and aficionados I interviewed, what makes them serious?
First, when tasting a good rosé, we can apply the same range of vocabulary used to describe reds and whites – including discussion of nuances in color, the intensity and variety of aromas on the nose and flavors on the palate, the general impression in the mouth, and the finish.
Long referred to as a wine for “unthinking drinking,” a quick Google search will reveal that people are not only thinking about rosé, they are writing about it. Consider the following brief review of Château d’Esclans’ Rock Angel rosé from Jamie Goode’s Wine Blog; excluding the red cherry reference, he could easily have been describing a white wine:
13.5% alcohol. Very pale in colour. Tight and a bit reductive with some bright grapefruit and lemon notes. There’s freshness and precision here with some savoury notes alongside the fruit. Nice stoniness here, and a hint of red cherry in the background. I like this quite a bit. 90/100
Second, terroir is a point of distinction among rosés – like reds and whites, it matters where the grapes are grown. “Terroir is paramount in the production of the big rosé wines,” said Aurélien Pont, a Provence wine consultant whom I know from his time at Château Pigoudet. The soil, climate, and landscape – all aspects of terroir – crucially “contribute to the complexity, the intensity, and the seriousness of the wines of Provence.”
Why else would there be nine appellations with four geographic denominations (sub-appellations) and provisions for additional denominations in the works? Each appellation signifies a distinct terroir (and specifies vineyard and winemaking practices). The sub-appellations, all of which fall under the largest appellation, Côtes de Provence, further delineate the area’s terroir and practices, and suggests a potentially strong link between place and the characteristics of the wine that hails from that place.
Matthew Jukes, a leading UK wine expert and award-winning wine writer, also emphasized the significance of terroir. When introducing the top two rosés from Château d’Esclans at a recent luncheon, Jukes asked, “Does [the wine] have all the integrity and honesty of a postcode wine, a wine with a GPS, a wine that comes from a certain part of the world and tells the truth about that soil?” Only when it does, he suggested, can the wine be contemplated as “totally top-end, ultra-fine.”
Patrick Léon, the world-renowned winemaker of Château d’Esclans fame (in addition to his unparalleled global pedigree in oenology), said understanding the terroir was one of his first tasks when Sacha Lichine, who had just purchased the château, challenged him to make “the best rosé in the world” back in 2006. Léon painstakingly identified over 40 different parcels of the 52 hectares (130 acres) of vines and vinified each parcel independently in the corresponding number of separate barrels. Léon and Lichine originally intended to make two rosés, but the terroir and its interaction with the grapes was so distinctly different across the different parcels, they ended up with four rosés (the same four that comprise the d’Esclans portfolio today). The top two rosés of the line-up, Garrus and Les Clans, are characterized by significant structure, richness, and complexity, and each is distinguished in part by its terroir.
Third, most people with whom I spoke felt that, regardless of color, the aforementioned three characteristics, particularly complexity, signal seriousness in wine. Certainly not all rosés have the complexity characterized by terroir, but Pont pointed out that such a continuum of “good ones and bad ones” makes it possible to build a “pyramid” of quality and “it is by comparing the base of the pyramid with its top, that one can evaluate the extent of the complexity of rosé wines.”
Rosés do not generally have “the bandwidth of complexity that reds and whites do,” a point made clear by Bradbury Kuett, Vaucluse-based writer on art, culture, and wine. Because of the minimal juice-skin contact inherent in the typical direct-press method of making rosé, this wine, in contrast to especially red wines, doesn’t reap the benefits of the polyphenolics concentrated primarily in the skin and seeds. (This group of molecules contributes significantly to flavor and other sensory characteristics in wine.)
Fourth, rosé in Provence is produced by using the same vinification processes used to make white wine (generally referred to as a serious category of wine, yes?).
Sacha Lichine was the first to tell me, in a very early conversation, that rosé is, in fact, the hardest wine to make. “It takes a lot more effort to make good rosé,” Lichine told me in an interview in Boston in early 2014. Because maceration is very brief or not used at all, Lichine explained it is difficult to get the character, longevity, and flavor while keeping the distinctive pale color of Provence rosés. “Quality is an accumulation of detail,” said Lichine. Among many others, Jean-Marie Quef, the young director and œnologue of Domaine de l’Amaurigue, echoed the same sentiment in a recent interview: “People can’t imagine how complex it is to produce the dry Provence rosés.”
Fifth, regarding Provence rosé, in particular, its seriousness is underscored by the fact that rosé production in Provence is, as Pont said, the “main aim” of the region. “Other appellations, benefitting from the world passion for the consumption of rosé wines, have also launched into the production of rosé wines. But these appellations are, above all, red wine producing areas, so rosé for them is a…byproduct,” said Pont. Indeed, almost 90% of AOP wine produced in Provence is rosé.
Cronk, mentioned above, who came to Provence to realize a life-long dream of making wine and is now an award-winning rosé producer, also wrote about producing rosé as a secondary interest: “…given that rosé is made from red grapes, many strapped producers therefore appreciate the revenues coming in earlier than with their red wines” that may not even be released for a couple of years.
In Provence, unlike primarily red-producing regions where rosé is made as a secondary interest, the grapes are picked at the ideal maturation to make rosé instead of when the grapes are at the right maturation to make red wine; this factor is essential to ensure the balanced fruit and acidity for which Provence rosés are famous.
Furthermore, the best vines – those generally reserved in other regions to make red wine – are devoted to rosé in Provence. These vines are often quite old (e.g., over 90 years old at Château d’Esclans for their famed Garrus rosé) and very low yielding but with high flavor concentration. It is worth reminding (at least some readers) that these are the same varietals (especially Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre) that would have gone to top quality reds in other appellations.
The UK’s Matthew Jukes knows those 90-year-old Grenache vines at Château d’Esclans well and he recently said that if the grapes from those vines were vinified as a red wine, it would be the biggest, darkest, heaviest, most powerful red wine one can imagine; only a highly dedicated rosé winemaker would use them for rosé.
Rosé producers in Provence have made huge investments in technology to ensure selection of the finest grapes from those vines (e.g., using double sorting procedures and electronic eye sorting) and to optimize their potential in the rosé that will eventually be poured into your glass (e.g., advanced mechanisms to control critically important factors like temperature and oxidation).
Furthermore, Provence rosés comprise 64% of the total volume of organic rosé sold worldwide. Investing in organic viticulture and viniculture – not to mention the many biodynamic wineries in Provence – underscores a strong (but not necessary) commitment to producing serious rosé.
If you’re a regular reader of Provence WineZine, you’ll have already guessed my sixth point: good rosés have, well, a seat at the table – in testament to their seriousness, rosés can be paired to perfection with a range of foods. Pont put it succinctly: “Rosé wine belongs to the gastronomy of Provence, and thus France….therefore, it is a serious wine!” He added, “Rosé wine, like red and white wines…can be paired with specific dishes…it is impossible to ignore its perfect pairing with grilled meats or fish.”
For Patrick Léon, food and wine are so intertwined that he said he would never finalize the blending of the top-tier wines at Château d’Esclans until he has had them with food.
In April, I attended a vertical tasting of Château d’Esclans’ Les Clans and Garrus rosés at a luncheon at Le Bernardin, Manhattan’s prestigious French restaurant (three Michelin stars). I’m going to go out on a vine here, but I don’t think Wine Director Aldo Sohm – recipient of the “Best Sommelier in America” award in 2007 – would allow any wine that isn’t serious, in his estimation, to accompany Chef Eric Ripert’s extraordinary seafood. Just guessing.
We were treated to Les Clans rosé (2015) with Seafood Truffle Pasta, a fabulous mélange of crab, scallop, lobster, atop tagliatelle and topped with a black truffle emulsion. We enjoyed Garrus rosé (2015) paired with Poached Halibut surrounded by asparagus, spring peas, fava beans, and morels. These pairings were not only exquisite – they were synergistic.
Rosés have long suffered the wrath of sommeliers. A few years ago, a rather famous sommelier sneered when I suggested that there were now enough serious rosés to demand a separate category on the wine list (rather than being lumped in with red or white wine or even sparkling wine…what sense does that make?). This attitude and rosé’s placement on wine lists are definitely changing.
Rosé from one or another of the Domaines Ott estates is often on the wine list in restaurants of a certain caliber. In a recent conversation with Romain Ott, Château Léoube’s highly regarded winemaker, we discussed what makes rosé a serious wine. Ott, a fourth-generation winemaker from the illustrious Domaines Ott family of winemakers, was initially a bit perplexed by the question and wondered if he had heard it correctly. Understandable, I suppose, because his family has always taken rosé seriously: his great grandfather, Marcel Ott, was devoted to producing high quality rosé as long ago as 100 years and, by 1938, he thought his rosé was so good that he shipped it across the Atlantic, probably the first shipment of rosé to reach our shores.
Talking early in February over a tasting of the latest vintage of Léoube rosés, Ott said, “My rosés are easy to drink but serious at the same time.” Chuckling, he added, “It’s not my aim to make fun wine.” Léoube rosé, first released in 2008, is now on the wine lists of top restaurants in New York City, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Malibu, Santa Barbara, and Napa, as well as in Hawaii.
My friend Jon Durant, guitarist and recording artist at Alchemy Records, is a prime example of a former dyed-in-the-wool red drinker who has since seen the light in rosé, converted after experiencing rosé paired with food. “[Last summer] was the first time I’d really explored rosés and the vast differences in flavors and complexity were an eye opener for me,” Durant said. I’d always had the impression that rosé was a less serious wine, and mostly that was due to what I’d experienced in the U.S. being far from the best. It turns out my impressions were seriously limited and there is a far greater depth and character available than I’d ever imagined.” Durant went on to describe one of his recent meals: “I made seared sea scallops with a mushroom tarragon truffle risotto and a bottle of Domaine de Fontenille rosé paired perfectly. It offered the supple mouth feel that I prefer, but with a crisp, light taste that played beautifully alongside the earthiness of the risotto.”
Seventh, I think we can agree that the price tag of the best rosés also suggests at least a modicum of seriousness. The price continues to climb, too. The average price for “premium rosé” (defined as those bottles above $12.00) in the U.S., Provence’s largest export market, continues to rise and is now over $17 per bottle. Many rosés are well over that price. My unscientific observations suggest many Provence rosés on the shelves of wine stores hover right around $23 to $25 and well over: Château de Pibarnon is $27 per bottle, Château Pradeaux is $30 per bottle, Domaine Tempier is $30 per bottle, and Château Léoube Secret is $32 per bottle. Finally, there are plenty of bottles priced over $40: Domaines Ott de Selle ($43), Château Saint Maur Excellence ($41) and Le Clos de Capelune ($50), Léoube Lalonde ($50) as well as Les Clans ($68) and Garrus (about $93 a bottle). And they are not collecting dust on the shelves. Would consumers purchase rosé at such prices if they didn’t think it was serious? Probably not…if its enjoyment were limited to pools, picnics, and cafés. (Yachts are a different story.)
I hasten to add, though, that good rosé comes at much lower prices, especially in France. Underscoring this point, Kuett, the Vaucluse-based writer mentioned above, reminds me that “at chic vernissages in Provence, it is acceptable, if not expected, to serve “bag-in-box” rosés from wine cooperatives in carafes.”
Finally, and arguably most important, the broader wine-engaged community is recognizing the aging potential of some rosés. Can rosé age like the great red and white wines? The simplest answer is “no,” most cannot. But some can. I hasten to add that this is not a requirement of a good rosé. Viktorija Todorovska, sommelier and co-author of Provence Food and Wine: The Art of Living, concurs but reflected on this subject with some concern: “If rosé is to be treated seriously, will it need to be ageable?” No, but it is a characteristic that, if present, indisputably nudges rosé into the serious wine category with reds, whites, sparkling, and fortified wines.
While most rosés cannot reap the benefits of aging without compromising the freshness that makes it so well liked, some rosés can and do benefit from a little time in the cellar: those with sufficient structure or tannins from contact with oak; those that include, in the blend, certain grape varieties or grapes from old vines; or those made from juices that had longer contact with skins and seeds.
Variation among vintages remains challenging to study — seldom is there a vertical collection of rosés to taste, leaving one to rely on notes without benefit of direct comparison, and the unreliable evidence of memory – but vertical tastings can offer a compelling solution to this. Earlier this year, my husband and I, were invited by Matthieu Négrel, co-owner of Mas de Cadenet, to an amazing vertical tasting of rosés de garde going back as far as 2002. The d’Esclans-Bernardin luncheon featured an incredible vertical tasting of Les Clans (2011 to 2015) and Garrus (2010 to 2015). The two experiences unequivocally demonstrated that rosés have the capacity to age. These wines not only held up, but they evolved. In fact, at the Berdardin tasting, all those around our table agreed that the 2015 Garrus, while superb now, will be even better in a few years.
American winemaker Tom Bove, former owner of Miraval and current owner of several Provence estates (including Château La Mascaronne, Château Bomont de Cormeil, Château Mira Luna, and Domaine le Bernarde), told me that it may only be by accident that people begin to appreciate the aging capacity of some rosés; that is, by forgetting about a bottle in one’s cellar. Bove has tasted a lot of rosé but it wasn’t until very recently that he tasted an older vintage of his own rosé (left in a friend’s cellar) and he was quite smitten. “This is what’s going to happen,” Bove exclaimed. “People are going to forget it in their cellars and the good ones are going to be good.” This may be the only way some folks will be convinced.
In the meantime, Masson said that The Rosé Research Center is studying rosé de garde and what can be done to enhance the aging potential to provide “des belles surprises” in the glass.
Over the years – as many as 2600 years – Provence has honed a unique style of rosé. According to Masson, the focus is now on keeping the unique typicity of Provence rosé, while expanding the diversity of the wines based on geography. “It’s all about cépage and terroir,” Masson explained, “And giving a distinct recognizable personality to specific appellations and sub-appellations.”
All signs point to continued improvement in rosé quality in Provence and, for that matter, around the globe. Elizabeth Gabay, one of just 350 accredited Masters of Wine in the world, has chosen to specialize in Provence rosés but her expertise and interest is clearly not limited to this region. In her writing and masterclasses, she rhapsodizes about rosés from relatively obscure regions in Hungary, Turkey, and Israel, for example, and she is currently writing a book about rosés from around the world.
Several years ago, Pierre-Olivier Camou, wine consultant at Cognac One and former Sales Manager at Sherry-Lehman, both in New York City, opined that when people understand rosé, they will demand more quality, and then, the third color of wine will be clearly seen as “real” wine, leading to its consumption year-round. This is happening.
Is rosé a serious wine?
I asked Martin Granne, a very knowledgeable clerk at Gotham Wines on New York City’s Upper West Side. We seemed to share the same palate regarding every Provence rosé producer represented in the store, but there was no budging him from his position that rosé was anything but serious and only meant to be gulped. “Rosés,” Granne said, “are something to drink for great pleasure, not something to think about.” Regarding the notion of aging rosé, he was incredulous: “Why would I want to do that?”
I asked Peter Holt, long-time highly regarded Wine Director and Sommelier at Boston’s legendary restaurant Anthony’s Pier Four; now closed, but in its heyday in the 1980s, Anthony’s staffed four full-time sommeliers and boasted a wine list (that consistently received Wine Spectator’s Grand Award). Holt’s succinct answer: “Why not?”

It makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up when I hear statements like “rosé is not a serious wine”!..does he not understand the nuances of a cépage grown by the sea vs those from the rocky areas around Aix…….just had Domaine St. Andre’s figuiere Premiere….oh my, the complexity, the subtle saltiness of the sea, the fruitiness, the mouth feel…., terroir, terroir, terroir.
You are so right! I am often bowled over by the subtleties of terroir in rosé (although sometimes there are pretty distinct differences). Rosés from La Londe are very different from Sainte Victoire although the sub-appellations are less than 100 kilometers apart. BTW, I like your choice of rosés !!

Rosés were not big or important enough to sit at grown up’s table. But I have been reading your Winezine blogs and I am now visiting Provence and have been experiencing the wide variation in rosés. I am drinking one tonight from Chateau Fonvert that is lovely: 70% Grenache Noir, with Cinsault, Syrah and Mourvèdre. It is complex and lovely. Thank you for your insights! I plan to open up my palate to rosés! What better area to do so?!

I would not argue that rosé coming forth from artisanal producers (I dislike the term boutique) can be full of character, and is certainly taken seriously when made. Winemaker Tom Bove had to learn from a friend that his wine could age, and right there you have the rub. It is made seriously, but not taken for a serious wine by most consumers, meaning one to lay away for enhanced pleasure.
Consumers unsurprisingly need to be educated. With few but distinguished exceptions, rosés were not made to be aged. Some Bandols are not released until September and those who know their roses know that they will be their best at least a year later. There is an interesting situation going on now at Chateau d’Esclans: Garrus is made with the idea that it will benefit from at least a little restraint. For the past two years, Garrus has been released at the chateau when, in my humble opinion, it is not ready. I had the 2015 last summer at the chateau and felt it was too oaky and closed. I just had a 2015 again in April and it was stunning. Will consumers wait or will they think “it’s rosé, I need to drink it asap”?
Tom Bove didn’t think about aging his La Mascaronne rosé, but he did think his rosés merited “serious” tasting. Interestingly, he told me that, “like most Americans,” he did not think of rose as “serious” but that is not his opinion now. (Watch for an upcoming article on this interview.) There are a growing number of consumers appreciating rosé de garde. In 2013, a rosé de garde category was added to the Concours des Vins de Provence competition.
Question: Do you think a wine has to have the capacity for aging to be serious?
I think a lot of educating need happen before the new rosé drinkers ever think of laying it down. Quite frankly, probably less than 10% of new wine drinkers are laying anything they purchase down beyond some months.
As to aging, no I don’t think wines have to have ageworthiness to merit classifying as a serious wine. How many vineyards really think to produce product that they believe clients should hold on to beyond 5 years? Restaurants are a good revenue source for serious wine producers, yet do they want to store until optimum drinking age? Again, no. But discriminating clients know that a large percent of what is on the reds list is not near its peak. And how many somms will respond honestly to whether the wine is truly too young? Were I a restauranteur the wines over $200 on the list would be bought at wine auctions rather than from producers, thus being close or at the best point on the age curve.

Good question. Yes. Léon told me, as he has said to others, that he and Lichine wanted to make a great rosé. For him, that meant, most importantly, that the wine is able to age and to go with food.
I will join in and say that I, too, find rosé a serious wine. Sure, there are “fun” pinks out there, as much as there are “fun” reds and whites. Not all wine is made to be serious but those vintners who make it well and are serious about their results, producing wines that deserve attention. Over the past two years while writing my column on food and wine pairings, I have discovered some amazing rosé wines. And, as a cook, there are times when I need a pairing and neither a white or a red seems to fit the bill – the answer, in these cases, if often rosé. Wonderful piece, Susan!
Excellent points! There are fun and serious rosés–and a whole lot in between–and then there are those rosés that will never cross my lips and stay….JUST LIKE WHITES AND REDS. Rosé’s versatility as a match for food is amazing.

I am particularly sensitive to the Terroir impact, and the winemaker expertise.
Indeed the statement as the most difficult wine to make is somewhat surprising but after giving more thoughts i will adhere BUT will reserve this statement for the top notch quality wine/wineries.
Unfortunately it is difficult for most consumers to identify the “good well made rose” ie the serious rose from the too many “crapy rose” you find on shelves today riding on the rose wave.
This will most probably impact negatively for some time for many to consider the rose as a serious wine.

Your point about consumers not being able to distinguish serious rosés from the others is a really important one. Some folks in the industry have suggested developing a tier system although this approach has obvious challenges in developing criteria. There is a classified ranking of estates with a little over a dozen estates being classified as such–but such a designation does not guarantee quality!
In the mean time, I hope PWZ will eventually cast more light on the subject.
A tier system, now there is a thought. I believe Bordeaux on the two or three occasions it has considered revamping their classifications have always settled on market price levels. Leave the job to Wine Spectator and they would place Bagnols at the summit. Can one agree that Garrus should stand head and shoulders above all others?
A fun exercise perhaps, though likely never to get beyond a round table discussion on the back deck. Or in the pages of Provence WineZine?

A reader thought I might want to know what Anthony Bourdain had to say recently about rosé and I thought you, dear readers, might want to know….
“Rosé: also known as Hampton’s juice….Look, hot summer months…you know, you are eating a steak, it could be good. It’s a utility drink like a cold beer, good but don’t get too excited about it. It is frightening when you walk into a place and everybody is drinking the same rosé from the same vineyard….it could be worse. It’s like the artisinal doughnut–you can laugh at it, but in the end, you know you want it.

So true that, once upon a (recent) time, tourists drank any rosé ponked in their glasses, happy just to be basking in the Provence ambiance while doing as the Romans. They certainly weren’t coming here for the wine, which gave little incentive for café owners to up the quality. Now that visitors can distinguish between the good, the bad, and the ugly, the quality of rosé served buy the glass, at least in cafés chez moi, has exponentially improved. Thanks, Susan, for helping spread the word.
Rose wine is seriously have a better impact than the other wine as rose is self-useful for the health and by adding the combination of rose and wines makes it more useful than that of the other wines as rapidly.
